I’m not religious in any way, but from my understanding, religion is supposed to be about accepting all sorts of people. I respect that people believe in something so whole heartedly. I get it. So why can’t I get the same understanding from a majority of religious people I come across? Like shit. Example of a normal conversation with a believer:
Them:Do you believe in god?
Me: Do you?
Them: Yes, without a doubt.
Me: Oh, cool. Good for you.
Them: Do you?
Me: No, I’m atheist.
Them: *shields up, we’re at war* (proceeds to tell me all the reasons why I need to believe in god)
Dude. No. You shouldn’t have to tell me why. If I’m gonna believe it has to be because I really believe. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll have a burning tree experience or whatever it is. Right now though. I don’t believe. Simple as that. Boom. Roasted.
